Courses and Scholarships
Desert Leaves organises courses and short trainings for students and professionals in the field of forestry in drylands.
For example, we offered a course on Google Earth Engine, in January and February 2023, in collaboration with the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. The course enabled participants to work with these remote sensing applications in the field of (agro-)forestry and environment. The course covered 30 teaching hours and entitled participants to academic credits, awarded by the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia.
In addition, Desert Leaves also offers students the opportunity to do their internship or thesis in collaboration with the foundation. For example, in 2022, we were able to offer a scholarship of Banco Santander to students from the forestry engineering master at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia to do an internship at Desert Leaves, and we guided students from the EADA Business School to do their final paper on financing non-profits.
Desert Leaves also collaborates with other organisations for shorter courses. For example, in 2021, together with the Generalitat Valenciana and the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, we organised a Technology Transfer event, in the format of symposium: see the events section for this.
